Hello!
I’mMarissa Cortes Mendez, CNM, FNP-BC, Menopause Society Certified Practitioner
I am a double board-certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 18 years of experience in women’s health and over 10 years as an advanced practice provider. My clinical focus is the care of women in perimenopause and menopause, with a specialization in hormone therapy, midlife symptom management, and long-term hormonal health.
I founded this practice to make specialized menopause care accessible to women throughout New Mexico. Through secure telemedicine, I help women across the state receive evidence-based care without the need to travel long distances for an appointment.
I chose to focus my practice in this area because midlife women’s health has historically been under-addressed, under-treated, and often minimized. My goal is to provide care that is clinically sound, up-to-date, and rooted in current evidence-based hormone therapy guidelines.
Empowering women to own their health journey.
How I Practice
My approach to care is built on three principles: time, depth, and individualized medicine.
I do not practice “quick visit” or checklist-based medicine. Instead, I take a comprehensive approach to understanding each patient’s hormonal and metabolic health, symptoms, and goals.
Every patient begins with a detailed clinical evaluation that includes:
Full review of symptoms and medical history
Hormonal and metabolic assessment when appropriate
Careful interpretation of labs in clinical context—not isolated ranges
Discussion of treatment options, including hormone therapy when indicated
Consideration of both hormonal and non-hormonal strategies
A step-by-step plan that is realistic, safe, and sustainable
My approach is grounded in current evidence-based guidelines from leading menopause and women’s health organizations, ensuring that treatment decisions are aligned with modern standards of care.
I believe that optimal care in midlife is not about treating lab values in isolation—it is about understanding how hormones, symptoms, sleep, metabolism, and quality of life interact over time.
Virtual Care
Although my practice is fully virtual, the level of care provided is not limited, simplified, or less comprehensive than in-person care.
In fact, for menopause and hormone health, virtual care often allows for:
More time spent reviewing symptoms and history
Easier access to follow-up and adjustments
Greater consistency in longitudinal care
Reduced barriers for women across New Mexico who may not have local specialty providers
All clinical decisions are made with the same standards of care used in traditional medical settings. When needed, lab testing is coordinated locally, and treatment plans are built with safety, monitoring, and medical appropriateness as top priorities.
My patients are not receiving “online advice.” They are receiving structured, high-standard clinical care delivered through a modern telehealth model.
Virtual care is simply the delivery method. The medicine, depth, and clinical rigor remain the same.
